Fife News: Launch of new Generations of Change Documents

Capturing The Magic of Living in Fife

The Leader of Fife Council's Administration, Cllr. Peter Grant and the Strategic Chair of the Housing & Communities Committee, Cllr. Brian Goodall, met today with two of Fife's Cultural Co-ordinators to mark the publication of a new ‘story' written for people of Fife of all ages.

It is a colourful and illustrated ‘translation' of ‘Generations of Change', Fife's new Cultural Strategy - with one version written specially for children and young people and one for adults.   "Generations of Change" tells an inspiring tale. Over 3500 members of the public offered Fife's Community Planners their time, passion, pride, ideas and advice to ensure that in future more people can take part in, learn about, enjoy and promote Fife's cultural life and unique offer.

Councillor Grant is pleased that both the publications, available to download free from www.fifedirect.org.uk/culture or to read in Fife's libraries, are so attractive and inspiring.   He said "These books directly feed back to the many people who took time to help us to capture the magic of Fife's cultural strengths. They told us to be brave and strong in how we share the story of Fife's rich cultural life and the many ways we Fifers celebrate our shared and our more diverse identities."   Cllr Goodall added, "Fife's many cultural experiences and traditions are built on authentic and strong community roots, our shared heritage and our sense of pride in what it means to ‘be a Fifer'. It is this that gives those of us who are lucky enough to live in Fife such a vibrant and distinctive day to day experience."

The new versions of ‘Generations of Change ‘ explain clearly how Fife Council and its Community Planning partners, particularly those involved in strengthening health and well-being, have listened to and taken on board the people's views.   ‘Generations of Change' will help build an even more vibrant Fife - a place in the world touched by a culture so special that Fife will be the destination of choice for those determined to share in the highest quality of life on offer in Scotland in the 21st Century.

The 2 new ‘Generations of Change' booklets are available in PDF format on www.fifedirect.org.uk/culture or in hard copy from Libraries in Fife.
