Deputy Chief Constable to retire

The Deputy Chief Constable of Central Scotland Police, Iain Macleod, has announced his intention to retire in December this year after 34 years police service.

Mr Macleod joined Tayside Police in 1976 and worked across the Force in a broad range of roles and ranks before being appointed Assistant Chief Constable in 2005. In March 2008 Mr Macleod was appointed Deputy Chief Constable of Central Scotland Police.

He has held several national positions within the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland, most recently as chair of the Professional Standards Business Area and portfolio lead on Environmental and Wildlife Crime.

Mr Macleod said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in policing and I will leave with great memories having worked with many dedicated people over more than three decades of service. I have been fortunate to work in two excellent police forces and have enjoyed carrying out a huge variety of roles. There have been many challenges over the years and I have always been impressed by the way in which officers and staff have risen to those. I have every confidence that those officers and staff will continue to rise to the challenges which lie ahead and strive to provide a high quality service to the communities they serve."
