Following the success of Kes last February, Exeter University Theatre Company returns with The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui; a reimagining of Hitler's Nazi regime in Germany, by prolific practitioner Bertolt Brecht.
Mirroring the true events of that shocking period in European history, the play trades Nazi Germany with the back streets of 1930s Chicago, Illinois. As the Great Depression hits and crime is rife, Arturo, a small time crime boss, seizes his opportunity to make it big and takes over the city. Under the strong influence of his violent regime, it seems no one can stop the resistible rise of Arturo Ui.
Incorporating theatrical techniques favoured by Brecht and heavily influenced by Film Noir, director Zac Price showcases the best of Exeter University's acting talents in a grand ensemble production bursting with old style mafia gangster grit and underscored by live music.'
This production is suitable for age 14+ years.
Tickets can be purchased from Exeter Northcott Box Office on: 01392 493 493, or online at http://www.exeternorthcott.co.uk/page/the-resistable-rise-of-arturo-ui'
