The winner of the Dundee Picture Book Award for 2010 was drawn to the attention of pupils on Tuesday (June 8).
Over 500 children from primaries across the city were at the Whitehall Theatre to hear who has won the most votes from P1 and P6 pupils in the annual competition.
There have been reading sessions in schools throughout Dundee as the children have enjoyed the books together.
The event on Tuesday was hosted by St Joseph's Primary and the award will be announced by Lord Provost John Letford.
The winner is:
Dandylion written and illustrated by Lizzie Finlay
Other books on the shortlist:
The Trouble with Dragons written and illustrated by Debi Gliori
Darkness Slipped In written and illustrated by Ella Burfoot
Tom's Tree written by Gillian Sheilds and illustrated by Gemma Raynor
The Lord Provost said: "This award is now firmly established in Britain's publishing calendar. Authors and illustrators from up and down the country come to Dundee for this award knowing that their books have been used to inspire and motivate our young people."
