McManus Citizenship Award

Dundee S6 pupils who have proved to be truly community-spirited through their efforts at home and school were recognised at a special ceremony on Tuesday (June 15).

The annual presentation of the Lord Provost McManus Citizenship Award was made at the City Chambers and the winner for 2010 is Sian Carlin from Morgan Academy

A total of 8 young people were nominated by their schools for this year's award, in a scheme designed to encourage and recognise young people's hard work and application in their school and the wider community.

Lord Provost John Letford hosted the award ceremony at which pupils and their families attended along with school staff.

Sian is the girls' vice-captain at Morgan and is involved in charity committees and the Scouts. She helps to mentor younger pupils and has spoken to MSPs and health professionals about the views of young people on smoking.

The Morgan pupil is also a keen photographer who has had public exhibitions of her work.
