• Great outfit can't believe the price

  " I normally get my outfit from the ferry but I gave this one a try but I was not sure what I would get for the money. I paid £30 for my outfit and it was excellent. It annoys me that just down the road the exact same outfit costs £60 (ripoff comes to mind). The kilt was the business with deep pleats and heavy so sat very well. The only pain was that they open at 10am so I had to go back as I thought they would open at 9 apart from that I would highly recommend these guys. "

• Saved my big day thank you so so much

  "I do not normally leave reviews unless I have had a bad experience. This time its the opposite. I had booked 12 kilt outfits for my entire male family and we were let down by a company that shall remain nameless !!! 6 days before my big day I was told that 4 of the outfits were not available. Great just great I cant tell you how upset Alison was with this news. I found A1 Kilt Hire on the net and gave them a hopeful call but expected them to be out. The managed to get the 12 outfits to me in 3 days and I simply can not thank Agnes enough. She a no crap tough type of Scots lady with a heart of gold, you know the type, does not laugh much but is like your mother and looks after you. Thanks again Agnes and the flowers are in the post x. • Cheap in the worst sense of the word

  "Absolutely awful. Cheap if you pick up locally, not much cheaper than a quality hire company if you have to get your outfit posted (~£20 which they don't tell you about until the last minute). The quality of their outfits is dreadful - each one must have been worn 100 times. Holes in the jacket lining, shiny worn bits on the collars, plating falling off the very tatty sporran. I ordered a 34" waist, was sent a 38" waist kilt, was told this was "standard practice" as a 38" waist kilt will tighten up on the straps to 34". It's rather like asking for a 15" shirt and being told that a 17" one will fit. The outfit looked dreadful, so I didn't wear it, hired one from a "proper" hire company and paid to have it couriered overnight. Infinitely smarter, and without the extra for the o/n courier, it would only have been about £15 more.
  They are very bad at answering the phone and responding to emails, and refused any refund despite the fact that I did not wear their outfit as it did not fit.
  You get what you pay for and A1 Kilts is cheap in the worst sense of the word."
