Council extends consultation deadline for Penzance and Newlyn Area Framework Plan
Cornwall Council is giving people in Penzance and Newlyn more time to put forward their views on the economic future of the local area.
The Council is extending the deadline for the public consultation into the Penzance and Newlyn Area Framework Plan from the original date of 31 August to 15 September to give local people more time to make their views known as some may have been away during the Summer.
As part of the extension to the consultation period, the Council is arranging additional opportunities for local people to view and comment on the proposals under consideration. Two additional exhibitions are being held next week - the first at The Farmers Market from 10am to 3pm on Friday 3 September and the second at the Wharfside Car Park on Saturday 4 September (subject to weather).
These displays are in addition to the permanent displays already availalbe on our website and at the following locations:
The Penzance and Newlyn Framework Plan involves looking at the area's potential for business and job opportunities, as well as considering how the town could evolve to meet the needs of residents and visitors.
The Plan, which is being developed by AECOM Design + Planning on behalf of the Council, has reached a critical stage where several options are being proposed. These proposals, which include details of the project ideas, have been on display in Penzance and Newlyn since 15 July and will now remain on display until 15 September to give residents and businesses a further chance to comment and influence the future direction of the area.
The options have been drawn up in response to detailed research about the economic and environmental status of the area and ongoing consultation with local businesses and community groups. The Council is asking everyone with an interest how Penzance and Newlyn might develop to provide for the future needs of its community.
These proposals will play a major part in transforming the Penzance and Newlyn economy over the next 15-20 years.
Following the exhibition and public feedback, the project team will finalise the proposals and provide members of Cornwall Council's Cabinet with an outline for how the plans could be delivered.
