Grant funding adds a bit of spice to local restaurant
The Mayor of Chesterfield, Cllr Adrian Kitch, went along to sample the gastronomical delights and the new décor at the Ashoka indian restaurant on Holywell Street, Chesterfield. The restaurant has recently undergone a number of improvements thanks to a grant from Chesterfield Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) which is managed through Chesterfield Borough Council.
The building has had a new shop front to reflect the mock tudor architecture, various structural improvements using traditional materials and the first floor has been converted into additional restaurant space.
The Mayor, Cllr Adrian Kitch said: "The THI plays an extremely important role in the repair and regeneration of historical town centre buildings. These are vital assets to our town and by preserving these buildings it attracts people to the town, boosting our local economy and our retail and tourism offer."
Mr Miah, the proprietor of Ashoka said: "We're delighted with the final look of the building and the new restaurant facilities and we're sure our customers will appreciate the improvements. It's good to see the building fitting in with the character of the town centre and it all helps to make Chesterfield a more attractive place for residents and visitors."
