The Orpington Band

The Orpington Band was founded in 1925 and provides a unique combination of nurturing beginners and providing a platform for more experienced players to perform together. 

Originally established as the Orpington Silver Band playing marching and other brass band repertoires, it now plays a wide selection of music from old classics to modern pop and film music.  

The band rehearses on Monday nights in term time at the Scout Hall in Goddington Lane, Orpington, the evening being split into three parts:

The Beginners band (meets from 6:30pm) is for all ages wanting to learn to play a wind instrument, and includes group lessons and playing easy to learn tunes

The Training band (meet from 7:15pm) is for the developing player, and includes a  repertoire of relatively easy to play pieces

The Main band (meet from 8 - 10pm)  is for the more experienced players, and includes a wide variety of music which is performed at local events such as fetes, Charity events and special quiz nights
