In 1982 the need for a specialist palliative care team was recognised and, with the support of Councillor Joan Hatcher, Mayor of Bromley, a committee was appointed and South Bromley Hospiscare was founded in 1984.
As Harris Hospiscare celebrates their 25th Anniversary, they are pleased to have the support of the current Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Denise Reddin, who has attended many events and raised funds on their behalf.
In 2002 South Bromley HospisCare was renamed Harris HospisCare in recognition of the dedicated support of their patron, Lord Harris of Peckham. The need for their services increased and in 2004 Caritas House was opened and they were able to support more patients and their families.
In 2008 they merged with St Christopher's Hospice which is recognised as the first modern hospice and a centre of excellence in hospice care. This development is the outcome of a long-standing professional relationship between two organisations sharing the same values, standards and commitment to high quality end of life care
During the last 25 years they have supported over 12,000 patients and their families and last year their dedicated volunteers gave 14,000 hours to assist them in many different ways.
Harris HospisCare with St Christopher's looks forward to the challenges ahead ensuring that good end of life care is available to all.
Harris HospisCare thanks you for the support you have given over the last 25 years and looks forward to your continued support in the future.
