Worthing Hotel Robbery

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a hotel receptionist was robbed in Worthing on Sunday night (June 28).

Police were called to a hotel in Marine Parade just after 9.30pm, in response to a woman receptionist being robbed. No weapons were used but the victim was left feeling terrified.

The man entered the reception area wearing a black balaclava and demanded cash. No force was used. He told her to give him the money and then she wouldn't be hurt. A navy blue cash bag was handed over containing £20 in notes and £10 in change. The offender ran from the hotel along Marine Parade and went north into Thorn Road. He was clutching the bag to his chest as he ran.

Eye witnesses saw the man remove the balaclava. He is described him as being between 6ft and 6ft 4in tall and aged in his 30s. He had short, light brown hair which was greying and receding at the back. He wore a black long sleeved t-shirt and light coloured trousers.

Police are following a number of lines of enquiry but would ask for members of the public to call if they believe they saw the suspect either before or after the robbery or if they have found a discarded dark blue cash bag.

Call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 quoting serial 1840 28/06/09.
