Dereham Holistic Therapist - Top to Toe Massage is run by Zoë Flint, who retrained as an complementary therapist after years working in a stressful corporate environment.

Like many in her situation she turned to complementary therapies such as Indian Head Massage to help her relax and relieve stress.

What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a complementary therapy that employs techniques used in India for thousands of years.  Indian Head Massage concentrates on massage of the upper back, upper arms, shoulders, back of the neck, head and face.

Indian Head Massage uses a range of different movements including application of deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas along with gentle stimulation and stroking of pressure points on the face.  For your treatment you will sit in a comfortable chair, fully clothed and ideally wear a T-shirt or open necked shirt.

What are the benefits of Indian Head Massage?

It can be said that Indian Head Massage is a truly holistic therapy that has many physiological and psychological benefits.  After treatment you will feel calm and relaxed and many of our clients say that they feel as if their whole body is balanced.   Indian Head Massage can also:

  • Improve circulation
  • Stimulate immunity
  • Relieve pain and discomfort
  • Improve posture
  • Reduce stress
  • Help promote sleep
  • Promote hair growth
  • Improve the condition of the skin and hair
  • Relieve tired eyes and eye strain
  • Promote clear thinking
  • Improve concentration
  • Help with emotional stress, anxiety and depression
  • Create a feeling of calm and balance

What is Baby Massage?

Baby Massage was developed by Vimala McClure in the 1970's following time spent working in India. The techniques used include elements of Swedish massage, reflexology and yoga.  Following the publication of a book outlining her techniques, Vimala began teaching her techniques to others and in 1981 the International Association of Baby Massage Instructors launched.  The UK Chapter of the association was set up in 1997 since which time over 300 instructors have been trained.

What are the benefits of Baby Massage?

Baby Massage has a wealth of benefits for you and your baby and provides special bonding time for you both, away from the stresses of the every day routines.  Baby Massage can help to relieve colic, promote better sleep, soothe a fussy baby and help with postnatal depression.  All you need is your baby, a towel and some natural vegetable oil.

What does Top to Toe offer?

The best way get involved is to book one of our 5-week Baby Massage courses which are held in the Dereham Leisure Centre on Wednesdays from 12.30pm - 1.30pm.  Over the course you will learn about:

  • Massage theory and methods
  • Baby development related to massage
  • Relaxation techniques for you
  • Techniques for fussy. colicky and high need babies
  • Massaging the growing child

At the end of the course you and your baby will also get a special certificate - probably the first that your baby will have been awarded!

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive holistic therapy that has been practiced for over 5000 years. By applying pressure to the reflex points on the hands and/or feet, the blood circulation is improved, the body relaxes and organs and glands become balanced. Doctors agree that over 75% of our health problems can be linked to nervous stress and tension. Reflexology is fantastic for relaxing and clearing these blockages.

Reflexology is not a beauty therapy; it is a clinical treatment with proven results.   Clients sit in a Lafuma recliner chair and the treatment starts with foot relaxation exercises and is completed with a foot massage. Reflexology is totally safe for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. It is widely accepted in the UK and recognised by the NHS, many GP's and hospices.

What are the benefits of reflexology?

Reflexology can help relieve a variety of symptoms and health issues including:

  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Asthma
  • Pre-menstrual syndrome
  • Digestive problems
  • Headache/migraine
  • Arthritis
  • Phobias

Baby massage and toddler yoga

"I attended baby massage when my daughter was about 3-4 months and found it very enjoyable and a good bonding experience with my daughter. With suffering with P.N.D this help alot with the bonding process, and I was able to continue at home once the classes finished. I am now attending the toddler yoga as my daughter is now 2 and again Zoe is helpful and patient. We both look forward to the weekly classes. And I would recommend either of these classes to other mums."
