The legendary jazz trumpeter Kenny Ball has died

Kenny Ball, the jazz trumpeter who was best know for his work as lead trumpeter of the band Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen has died aged 82.

Famed for his work throughout the 50’s and 60’s and his many appearances on the Morecambe and Wise show, Kenny Ball had been ill for a number of weeks and with pneumonia.

The band appeared with Louis Armstrong in 1968 and played at the reception of Prince Charles and Lady Diana and the band's biggest hit was Midnight in Moscow which sold over a million copies in 1962.
