Minister celebrates St Patrick’s 50th Anniversary
The Education Minister has celebrated 50 years of education at St Patrick's Primary School in Newry.
Speaking at the event, held in the Canal Court Hotel, the Minister, Caitríona Ruane said: "I am honoured to be involved in part of the school's 50th anniversary celebrations. We have much to celebrate in our schools and together we can build an education system that produces creative, articulate young people who have strong communication skills and can confidently take their place in our global community.
"There are many progressive changes happening in education including, Every School a Good School, the Entitlement Framework, Sustainable Schools and Transfer 2010. As Education Minister, I am optimistic about the future and the challenges that lie ahead because I am convinced that we are well able to work together to promote the education, the wellbeing and the prosperity of young people at school."
The Minister concluded: "I offer my congratulations again in achieving this significant milestone. The new Principal, Ciaran Mackin, and his staff have worked hard to support St Patrick's Primary School. Many families in the community have past and present connections with the school and I am sure the school will continue to serve many generations of children to come."
