Council highway teams have been quick to tackle the swathe of potholes which have appeared on Barnet's roads following January's cold weather.
Four dedicated maintenance teams have repaired more than 1,200 potholes since the end of the cold snap, around 100 repairs each working day.
On average the council repairs 1000 potholes each year, a figure which has already been dwarfed by January alone.
During the last financial year, the council spent £1.7 million on road and pavement maintenance, including around £80,000 worth of pothole repairs.
Highways inspectors are continuing to respond to reports of potholes and pavement damage, in order to prioritise repairs.
Crews then aim to attend to minor potholes within a maximum of 10 working days, or where potholes present a serious hazard to road users through their location, size or depth emergency repairs will be made within four hours.
Councillor Daniel Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport said:
"Our crews have been working flat out over the past few weeks to make sure roads are repaired as quickly as possible.
As expected we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of pothole being reported but with an extra crew drafted to help with repairs and refuse crews helpfully reporting damage while carrying out their rounds, we are making significant progress.
"I encourage residents to continue to report potholes so repairs can be carried out as soon as possible."
Barnet Council launched a new online service that allows residents to inform the council of potholes with mobile phones.
Residents can report potholes and damaged pavement via the council's fixmystreet website: barnet.fixmystreet.com
