Films at Aberdeen Maritime Museum

Start date: 20th December 2011 until 9th March 2012

A series of films that reveal the wonderfully diverse history and heritage of Aberdeen will be shown at Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Shiprow.

The films have been loaned to the museum from the Scottish Screen Archives; Scotland's national moving images collection.

The archive preserves over 100 years of Scottish social, cultural and industrial history on film and video which provide a fascinating insight into the lives of ordinary Scots across the generations.

The films will be repeated throughout the day on the following dates:

17 December - 30 December

A documentary from the 1980's on the career of Sir Alex Ferguson.

31 December - 13 January
Freedom of the City
This documentary from 1946 reveals the conferral of this much coveted honour and features Sir Winston Churchill.

14 January - 27 January
Richard's Textile Factory
A documentary from 1977 on the life and work of this factory.

28 January - 10 February
The Origins of Oil
An insight into the way oil and gas deposits were created.

11 February - 24 February
Silver City
The story of Aberdeen in the 1950's.

25 February - 9 March
The Call of the Sea
A visual record of Aberdeen's centuries-old relationship with the sea.
